Who We Are

We exist to provide more than food.

Medway Soup Kitchen CIC is a community-led initiative responding directly to food insecurity and isolation across Medway. We are residents of this area, building support that feels close, human, and consistent. Food meets the immediate need, but showing up, week after week, is what builds lasting change.

Freshly Cooked Meals

Prepared from scratch with quality ingredients, never reheated leftovers.

Consistent Support

Same time, same place. People can rely on us being there.

A Welcoming Presence

No referrals, no judgement, no barriers. Just community.

Dignity First

Everyone is treated with respect. No questions asked.

Why We Exist

No one should go without a meal.

Across the UK, an estimated 7.3 million adults experienced food insecurity in early 2025. Medway is not immune. Rising costs, housing instability and financial hardship are pushing more people into crisis, and for some, a hot meal is no longer guaranteed.

Financial Hardship

Benefits delays, low wages, debt

Housing Instability

Rough sleeping, temporary accommodation

Rising Living Costs

Food prices up 19% since 2021

Social Isolation

No family, no network, no safety net

“When a community looks after its own, no one is left unseen.”

That's what Serving Our Own means.

What We Do

How we prepare, deliver and grow our community food initiative.

Weekly Meal Prep

Every week, our team cooks fresh meals from scratch. We focus on quality ingredients, proper food safety and consistent output. No shortcuts.

  • Safe, hygienic preparation
  • Properly packaged for distribution
  • Made with care, every time

Community Outreach

We distribute meals directly to people in need across Medway, including those sleeping rough. We prioritise dignity and build trust through consistency.

  • No referrals needed
  • Reliable weekly distribution
  • Working alongside Street Angels

Growing Our Reach

We currently operate weekly distributions and are preparing to expand to additional days, doubling the number of meals we serve.

To expand, we need:
  • Sustainable financial donations
  • Committed, reliable volunteers
  • Regular food supply contributions
